Good morning! Here’s to another day and another opportunity to be productive and start your day off motivated.
We all have those day that we just aren’t feel like doing anything and have zero motivation to get out of bed. Trust me, I know! Just the other day, it was really hard for me to start the off motivated and on a good note. My morning went something like this: I woke up and stayed in bed on my phone for an hour, then I ate breakfast and sat right back down on the couch.
I firmly believe that very beginning of the day will set the tone for the rest of the day so for me, it is super important that I wake up feeling good and ready to start the day motivated! In addition, after a few days of waking up unmotivated, it becomes a habit and much harder to get all the things you have to do done. I’m not perfect and I definitely have my hard morning, however, I have found some of the best things to do in a situation in which you just aren’t feeling it that particular morning.
Whenever I start having to drag myself out of bed and feel sluggish in the morning, I make an effort to do a few simple, easy hacks to the start the day motivated and successful. I found that they work amazing and the more of these little tricks I do, the better I feel!
Before I get into it, understand that some day are just going to be harder than others. This could be for a multitude of reason: didn’t get enough sleep, feeling under the weather, lack of proper food, stress, etc. However, doing what you can do to reduce the amount of hard mornings will make you feel so much more motivated and productive.
Below I have 7 of the best ways to start the day off motivated and feeling good. Corporate your favorite tricking into your morning routine and increase your productivity, energy, and attitude.
1. Set your alarm. Rise and shine!
From the moment you get up, you are setting the tone of how your morning is going to go. If you sleep in until noon or wake up at the last second and rush out the door, you are going to feel stressed and overwhelmed. The key to a feel-good morning is for it to be stress free, so set an alarm and wake up on time.
What I like to do is set two alarms 10 minutes apart. That way, when the first alarm goes off, you can start consciously waking up and you don’t go from 0 to 10 right away. Then, when the second alarm goes off, you can get up and you’re ready to start your beautiful day.
Some people say it is better to wake up and immediately get out of bed to avoid snoozing your alarm multiple times. However, some people need a little more time to get up in the morning. The method I use works really good for me and it’s a happy medium from getting up immediately and snoozing your alarm for 30 minutes.
2. Wash your face.
This one might seem a little irrelevant, but it works. Right after you wake up, go wash your face even if it means just splashing your face with cold water. The water will wake your skin up and make you feel more awake and ready to start the day. I do this every morning and once I do this, I feel like I can do anything. If I really want to feel awake, I will turn the cold water on and that will definitely wake my skin up. If you like to shower in the mornings,
that is also a great way to wake your body up and get it ready for the day.3. Eat breakfast for Energy.
Do not skip breakfast. On days when you have a lot to do, you need the energy to perform at your very best. There are a ton of quick, easy breakfasts that will properly nourish your body for a great day. Some of my favorite breakfasts are eggs and a piece of toast, yogurt with granola and fruit, or oatmeal. Even something as simple as an apple or banana is also good if you don’t like to eat a lot when you get up.
Try to avoid foods that are super sugary in the morning as they will decrease your energy and will not keep you full for a long time. Other than that, you can pick whatever type of breakfast you like to eat. The important part is that you eat something in the morning to give you energy.
4. Exercise/move your body.
One of the best things do to when you need extra energy to attack the day is working out. Working out in the morning gives you more energy and focus throughout the day therefore you are more willing and motivated to do the rest of your work. Everybody has different schedules, and some schedules don’t allow you to do a long workout in the morning. You might prefer to work out in the evening. If this is the case, it doesn’t need to be a 30 plus minutes of working up. 10 minutes of moving your body in the morning is all you need to get the boost of energy and motivation to start your day off right.
There is a variety of different kinds of mini workouts you can do. Workouts can range from yoga which stretches out the muscles, all the way to high intensity movements. These movements can include exercises such as high knees, jump squats, push-up etc. Both kinds of exercises are sure to create blood flow and jump start your metabolism to burn a little more calories throughout the day.
Regardless of which type of workout you choose, waking up and getting your blood flowing is a great way to start the day motivated and add energy to your day.

5. Make a check list
Making a list in the morning is a great way to keep track of all the things you have to do. This will prevent you from feeling stressed when you try to remember everything in your head and then forget something important. There is something so satisfying to me about making a check list and checking off all the boxes. When I see the things, I have to do written out, I feel way more motivated to do them.
Create a list for everything at your job you want to complete or any schoolwork you have. Make a list of any errands you have to run. I make lists on a daily and weekly basis for just about anything. I even make lists for what I have to do to get ready for a special occasion. Even small things, such as ‘take a shower’ or ‘shave my legs’ I also add to my list. Now, you don’t have to get that far into detail but for me, that is what I like and what works for me.
6. Get yourself ready, Dress for success!
If you are going to work, this is a given. But for days when you don’t have a specific time to do anything, getting dressed is a great way motivate yourself to begin your day and start doing the things you need.
Ever hear the expression, ‘look good, feel good, play good’. Well, the same applies in this situation. If you look good, you are likely to feel better and want to be productive. Staying in your pajamas all day can easily lead to sitting on the couch and watching tv all day. I know this because it has definitely happened to me before.
7. Limit Screen Time
Limiting screen time in the morning is crucial to starting the day motivated and having a clear, peaceful mind. I find, on days that I spend more than 5 minutes minutes on my phone in the morning, I am less likely to be motivated to do anything else. Sometimes I find myself laying in bed scrolling on phone and then all the sudden I look up and an hour has gone by. I’ve then wasted an hour on my time in the morning, and my fresh brain and eyes have been disrupted with screen time.
I know sometimes it doesn’t feel like the amount of screen time we have affects us that much. However, screen time in the morning can seriously effect your motivation, energy, and mind.
Try some yourself!
By doing these simple, easy things in the morning, you can have a productive and feel-good day every day. Take a few extra minutes in the morning to try to incorporate some of these tricks. The results I have felt by completing these tricks are so worth it and I encourage you to try them out too. You will feel even better at the end of the day because you were able to achieve all your tasks. You’ll be excited and want to do these things each day when you wake. The difference you will feel will be amazing.
