6 Tips to for a Full Spring Break Reset
1. Declutter Your Space
A spring cleaning declutter sesh is so classic but so iconic that I had to include it.
There’s magic in letting go of the old to make room for the new. Start with one area that’s been driving you nuts—maybe it’s that junk drawer or your closet stuffed with clothes you forgot you had.
Quick Tip: Use the “three-pile method”: keep, donate, or toss. Be honest with yourself. If it doesn’t spark joy or serve a purpose, it’s time to say goodbye.
Imagine walking into a clean, organized space every day. It’s like a mini serotonin boost just waiting for you. Plus, donating gently used items can brighten someone else’s day, which is a win-win.

2. Evaluate Your Budget and Expenses
Let’s talk money—spring break reset style.
While we all want to splurge on cute swimsuits and iced lattes, it’s also the perfect time to check in with your finances.
Review your monthly expenses and see where your money is going. Ideally you will have already have set some sort of budget for yourself, if not, now is a perfect time to set one!
You don’t realize how much you are spending until you track every expense and see it on a spreadsheet with raw numbers so this is big for managing your finances.
Once you have your budget, you can track your expense and see where you tend to spend more, and where you are able to cut back.
Then, of course, as budget allows you can get your iced latte and cute swimmies!
3. Check In With Your Goals
Remember those New Year’s resolutions you set a couple of months ago? Yeah, it’s time to revisit them.
Your Spring break reset is all about growth, so why not see how you’re blooming?
The first step is to review your goals, and if you haven’t set any, now is the perfect time.
What are you working toward? What do you want your life to look like in a year? or 6 months?
If you already have goals…how are they going? Make any adjustments based on your current priorities and wants. It’s okay if things have changed!
And finally, make a plan of action for your goals so you can go into spring and summer with them top of mind 🙂
Whether you’re working on a fitness goal, career milestone, or personal project, small steps every day can lead to big changes.
Celebrate your wins so far, and map out your next moves.
And make sure to periodically keep checking in on your goals to ensure you are staying on track and aligned. I like to do this every quarter. You can check out this guide on How to Do a Quarterly Goals Check in For Success
4. Refresh Your Wardrobe
Say goodbye to bulky sweaters and hello to breezy sundresses and denim shorts. A Spring break reset is the perfect time to swap out your winter wardrobe for lighter, more colorful pieces.
I know I said you should manage your finances, but that doesn’t mean you can’t invest in some new fits too!
Start by switching out your warm, winter clothes with you lighter, more summer wardrobe. Go through some of your clothes you haven’t worn a while and see what fits, what you don’t like anything, and what you want to get rid of.
Then, I always like to make a little list of new clothes I need (or want) to buy. I make sure to be really intentional with the things I buy:
- 1-2 quality (but comfy!) jean shorts
- 1-2 new high quality swim suits (tons of cheap, Shein swimsuits are OUT, and 1-2 high quality classic swimsuits are IN)
- Basic bodysuits or tank tops
- A few fun new staples
- 1 pair of new shoes
When you do shop, look for versatile pieces that can take you from brunch to the beach. And don’t forget to break in those sandals—no one likes blister drama on vacation.
5. Plan a Trip (Even If It’s a Mini One)
You don’t need to fly to an exotic location to make spring break memorable. A weekend road trip, a day at the beach, or even a cozy staycation can do wonders for your soul.
Aren’t going anywhere for spring break? Trust me aren’t the only one, even if it feels like it.
But luckily, you don’t need to go anywhere to get excited!
Plan a fun summer trip! The anticipation and planning is often just as exciting as the actual trip.
There are so many scientific studies about how anticipation and planning boost your serotonin levels and mood.
According to a study published in the journal Front Psychol, the anticipation of positive experiences activates reward-related brain regions, providing a mental and emotional boost even before the event occurs.
So start researching and planning something for the summer.
On of the biggest things I’ve realized, as someone who likes to travel and go places, is that if I always have some trip, no matter how big or small to look forward to and plan, my happiness and mood is way better!
Traveling—even a little—can give you a fresh perspective and leave you feeling rejuvenated. So make a plan save money, and go!
6. Make Time to Relax
Spring break isn’t just about getting stuff done; it’s also about slowing down and enjoying the moment.
Give yourself permission to relax, whether that means curling up with a good book, trying yoga, or binge-watching your favorite show.
If you are someone that sometimes struggles to rest, schedule downtime just like you’d schedule a meeting or errand. It’s easier to stick to when it’s on your calendar.
Remember, self-care isn’t selfish. By taking care of yourself now, you’re setting yourself up to thrive in the busy months ahead.
