Would you believe it if I told you that I first discovered jojoba oil from my boyfriend?
This was one of the few products he had at his apartment and you best bet that I jumped all over it.
I started using jojoba oil for my hair and face and immediately saw amazing results.
Oil products use to scare me but I have semi-oily skin and my hair roots get oil fairly quickly. So the thought of putting oil on my hair just didn’t feel right- until I actually started using it.
My scalp was never dry or itchy, my hair felt super strong and silk and my face was actually less oily after using the product.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the amazing benefits jojoba oil brings. It really is the ultimate beauty hack.
Keep reading and discover all the amazing benefits of this natural oil.
What is Jojoba Oil?
Jojoba oil, pronounced “ho-ho-ba,” is a luxurious oil derived from the seeds of the jojoba plant, scientifically known as Simmondsia chinensis. Native to the arid regions of southwestern North America, particularly Mexico and the United States, the jojoba plant thrives in harsh desert conditions.
Interestingly, jojoba oil is not technically an oil but rather a liquid wax ester, closely resembling the natural oils produced by the skin.
Where Does Jojoba Oil Come From?
The extraction process of jojoba oil involves cold-pressing the seeds of the jojoba plant to obtain the precious liquid. This method helps preserve its nutrient-rich composition, including vitamins E and B, minerals like zinc and copper, and fatty acids such as omega-9 and omega-6.
Because it is nearly identical in chemical structure to the natural oils in our skin and hair, it is quickly absorbed without leaving an oily residue.
Let’s Talk Hair! Benefits of Jojoba Oil for Hair
1. Deep Moisturization
Jojoba oil closely mimics the natural oils produced by the scalp, making it an excellent moisturizer for dry, brittle hair. Its lightweight texture allows it to penetrate the hair shaft, hydrating each strand from within without leaving a greasy residue.
2. Scalp Health
Regular application of jojoba oil can help maintain a healthy scalp environment by balancing oil production and soothing irritation. Its antimicrobial properties also aid in combating dandruff and promoting overall scalp health.
3. Hair Growth Stimulant
Rich in vitamins and minerals, jojoba oil nourishes the hair follicles, promoting healthy hair growth.
Massaging the oil into the scalp improves blood circulation, which in turn stimulates hair follicles for increased growth.
Jojoba oil for hair can be create amazing results. In fact, once a week and like to be a process called hair oiling. It is as simple as it seems. Add a little bit of oil directly to your roots and begin massaging it into your hair and scalp.
Let it sit for over an hour or overnight and then wash your hair. Not only does it help with hair growth but also hair health and acts as a nice scalp treatment.
4. Frizz Control
Jojoba oil’s emollient properties help smooth the hair cuticle, reducing frizz and flyaways. It creates a protective barrier that seals in moisture, keeping the hair smooth, shiny, and manageable.
I actually use jojoba oil as a frizz treatment. For this, I take a 1-2 drops (a little goes a long way) and it to the end of my hair. You will immediately see the difference. Please note that you only need a tiny bit.

Say Hello to Glowing Skin! Benefits of Jojoba Oil for Face
I love using jojoba oil on my face. Typically I will just drip a little bit of oil on each cheek and then gently rub it in.
However, for a more in-depth facial tissue message, I will also then use my Gua sha. Gua shas are known for relieving facial tension and reduce puffiness and inflammation. That got super big after many people have proof amazing face results after consistent use to the face.
Jojoba oil lets the Gua sha glide seamlessly over the face.
Now, for the benefits all this can bring.
1. Gentle Makeup Remover
Jojoba oil is an effective and gentle alternative to commercial makeup removers. Its lightweight texture effortlessly dissolves makeup, including waterproof formulas, while nourishing the skin and leaving it soft and supple.
I try to stay away from waterproof makeup simply for the hassle of getting it off. However, jojoba oil can do it without any intense rubbing or irritation.
I like to then wash my eyes with baby shampoo to avoid getting a build up of oil around my eyelashes which can then lead to eye infections or styes. And yes- I wash my eyes with shampoo BUT it is specially made for babies and doesn’t burn or irritate your eyes at all!
2. Balancing Oil Production
Contrary to popular belief, applying oil to the face can help regulate sebum production, especially for oily or acne-prone skin.
Jojoba oil’s molecular structure closely resembles sebum, making it an ideal natural moisturizer that doesn’t clog pores.
Unlike coconut oil, whose claim to fame is its extreme moisturizing effects, jojoba oil is not as heavy. Coconut oil can leave an oily residue on your face because of its composition and thick consistency.
Jojoba oil on the other hand, glides on your smooth smoothly and soaks right in.
3. Anti-Aging Properties
Packed with antioxidants like vitamin E, jojoba oil helps combat free radical damage, which is a major contributor to premature aging. Regular use can help diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots, promoting a youthful complexion.
4. Skin Soother
For sensitive or irritated skin, jojoba oil offers soothing relief. Its anti-inflammatory properties help calm redness, irritation, and inflammation, making it suitable for conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea.
