5 Ultimate Healthy Habits for a Better Life!
1. Move your body in the morning
One of the best healthy habits you are could possibly do is to get your body moving in the morning.
Moving your body in the morning will boost your stamina, flexibility, and energy for the whole day.
Regardless of whether you prefer working out in the morning or night, getting your body moving while the first hour of waking up is important.
This is especially important if you have a job in which you are sedentary for a majority of the day, for example, office and desk jobs.
Find 15-30 minutes during your morning routine to go for a walk or stretch. It will not only help your body feel better, but also your mind.
2. Drink water
Drinking water goes without saying that it can be one of the most beneficial things you can do.
The list of benefits are endless:
- Flushes body waste
- Boost skin health
- Regulates body temperature
- Helps maintain blood pressure levels
- Essential for kidney and other bodily functions
- Curves cravings
- Boost performance
Taking a water bottle everywhere you go and actively drinking water throughout the day is an effective way to increase your water intake.
I almost NEVER leave home without my 32oz Hydro Flask waterbottle or my 40oz Stanley cup. Keys, wallet, phone and WATER are the things I won’t leave the house without.
And the best part is, once you get in the habit of drinking water, your body will start to crave it more so you don’t have to force yourself to drink water.

3. Wear sunscreen everyday
One habit you absolutely need to start doing is wearing sunscreen everyday.
Not just the days you lay out by the pool, I’m talking EVERYDAY. This includes days you are just sitting inside or days that it is cloudy.
I’m sure you have been told to defend your skin from the harmful UV ray of the sun, but did you know that you should also shield your skin from the blue light coming from your phone and computer screens?
According to Hadley King, MD, a board-certified dermatologist, blue light is high-energy visible (HEV) light that is both high-frequency and high-energy. Although it is not associated with condition such as skin cancer, it can cause skin to age prematurely and contribute to hyperpigmentation, melasma, and age spots.
Therefore, not only do you need to protect your skin against UV rays from the sun, you also need to project your skin from blue light and your own phone screen.
Getting in the healthy habit of applying sunscreen to your face every day is super important!
If you don’t want a heavy sunscreen or one that breaks the bank, I HIGHLY suggest the Trader Joe’s sunscreen. It only $8 and known to be a dupe for the Supergoop sunscreen.
It glides on my face seamlessly and creates a matte finish that doesn’t make your face oily, like some sunscreens do.
At the end of the day, there are so many everyday-wear sunscreens out there for you to choose from. You may have to do a few trial and errors to find the best one that works for you and your skin.
4. Take care of your health
If you aren’t making your health a priority already, this is your sign to START!
This means, ensure you are showering regularly, brushing your teeth, eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep!
The food you eat is especially important. This is where you are going to get your energy, the nutrients to keep your body functioning, and the vitamins to keep your immune system strong.
Each flu season, I make sure that I am stocked up on vitamin C and zinc. I will get Emergen-C packets and take one every morning in order to give my body the best chance of staying healthy.
Making your health a priority is one of the best healthy habits you can do.
5. Plan your meals
On the note of eating healthy, it brings us to the next healthy habit that can dramatically change your life.
Planning your meals!
Not only will this boost your nutrition, it also saves a lot of time and money.
On weeks where I don’t plan my meals, I find myself wasting much more time running back to the grocery or ordering food and thinking about what I am going to eat.
Sit down at the start of the week and plan out what you want to eat each day. This is the perfect thing to do on Sundays.
This may seem overwhelming, but if you break it up by week and focus on 3 meals daily (breakfast, lunch and dinner), it becomes much simpler.
- Breakfast: Keep this fairly similar throughout the week. It can be eggs and bacon one week, then the next you might want to switch it up. That way, you only have to get a few things each week.
- Lunch: One can also keep this fairly similar. If you work or are busy during the day, consider meal prepping your lunches as well.
- Dinner: This is where you can add variety. Plan at least 3-4 dinner per week.
Planning your meals also means making a grocery list!
If you feel like you have to go to the store multiple times a week because you run out to don’t get enough, check out my post on How to Make a Healthy Grocery List that Lasts All Week!
How to Actually Form Healthy Habits
- Make a plan. Identify unhealthy patterns and triggers. Set realistic goals. Write down steps to help you achieve them.
- Change your surroundings. Find ways to make healthier choices easy choices. Remove temptations. Find ways to change your surroundings to help achieve goals, like creating a safe space for walks.
- Ask for support. Find friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, or groups for support or ask people to join you. When you have a accountability partner, it is easier and more fun!
- Track your progress. Record how things are going to help you stay focused and catch slip-ups.
- Imagine the future and the reason you started. Think about future benefits and the reason you set those goals to begin with.
- Reward yourself. Give yourself a healthy reward when you’ve achieved a small goal or milestone, like a massage or personal time.
- Be patient. Improvement takes time, and setbacks happen. Focus on progress, not perfection.
- Stay consistent. Habits become automatic when you are consistent. Even, you won’t have to think about it as much.
and that is it!
Start doing these 5 healthy habits for a better life!
Remember:
You want to create healthy habits, and not restrictions.
Thus meaning, create balance.
You don’t have to get up at 5am to walk 3 miles everyday or never eat a cookie again. Some days you may not reach your water intake goal.
And that’s okay!
Pick it back up the next day. 🙂
