Let’s Begin!
What you’ll Need:
- Sally Hansen wax strips (make sure you get the ones for the face and bikini)
I have been using these Sally Hansen wax strip for a few years now and I love them! They are super easy to work with, not messy, and it includes everything you will need. This kit includes multiple sizes of wax strips, wax remover oil for any excess wax left on your skin, and an instructions manual. Highly recommend getting these.
There are many other wax strip kits, brands and forms out there; however, I have found that working with wax already attached to a strip is much easy to learn and handle then using liquid wax and having to apply straight wax. So for my beginners, this is perfect.
- Sharpie
- Scissors
- Cotton pads/balls
Decide on a Shape
Now, before you put anything near your eyebrows, you first need to decide on a shape you would like for your eyebrows.
A good rule of thumb is to go for an eyebrow shape opposite of your face shape.
For example, if you have a long face, you should go with an eyebrow shape that doesn’t have a high arch. Instead, opted for a low-lying arch.
If you have a round face, you should go for a high-angled arch to add length and height to your face.
I have more of a round face, therefore, I tried to give my eyebrows have more of an arch.
Another tip would be to follow your natural shape. While I am aware I should keep more of a high arched brow, I already have a shape I can follow so all I need to do it clean up the edges. This is especially useful if you already have a shape that you like established.

Prep Work
Before you stick the wax strips on your face, there are a few things you need to do.
- Start with a clean face. Before you do anything, make sure to wash your face so you have a nice clean, smooth surface to work with.
- Within the Sally Hansen wax kit, there will be 3 different size wax strips and a mini bottle of wax remover. The wax remover will come into play after we have completed waxing and will help in removing any excess wax left on your face.
- Grab a wax strips. For your eyebrows, I recommend using either the smallest size or the one slightly bigger. You are going to draw the shape you wish to have on the top part of your eyebrow onto the wax strip with sharpie. If you just want to clean up the edges and wax the surrounding area, you can hold the wax strip up to your eyebrow and trace the shape of your eyebrows directly on the wax strip.
- Rub the strip between your hands for few 10-20 seconds so the wax can soften and warm up.
- Cut along the sharpie line. When you pull the wax strip apart, both sides will be the same and will ensure that both eyebrows are also the same shape. You should have a piece for the top part of your eyebrow and a piece for the bottom.
- Cut the bottom piece to fit under your eyebrow but not too far down hits your eyelid.
- The remainder of the wax strip can be used to get any hairs that were missed and wax the space in between your eyebrows.
Now that we are prepped and ready to go, we can begin waxing!
How To Apply the Strip
- Take the top section and pull the wax strip apart.
- Carefully place the strip above your eyebrow and rub your fingers on it for 5-10 seconds.
- Quickly pull the strip off in the opposite direction of your hair. That means, grab the strip by the tail of your eyebrow and pull it towards the middle of your face.
- Repeat on the other side.
- Take the bottom piece and place that directly under your eyebrow and press down making sure it is firmly in place.
- Again, you want to pull the wax strip off in the opposite directly of your hair growth, most likely going toward the center of your face.
- Repeat this process on the other side and with the center of your eyebrows.
Post-Wax Care
After you are finished waxing, take a cotton pad and put some of the wax remover on the cotton pad. Rub it on and around you eyebrow to make sure all the wax is off your face.
This is optional, but I like to take some face wash or baby shampoo and wash your face and eyebrows once more to get on the wax remover and oil off your face.
The skin that you just waxed might have a little redness but that should subside and go away in 10-15 minutes.
