Your purpose in life is so unique to you. Every one has their other set of skills, passions, experiences and talents that create a spark within you. Your purpose is related to these things and often described as the reason you were put on this earth.
However, your purpose is found in the long game and not short term objectives. You have to experience more things and understand the world. It may take a long time to find your true purpose. However, that sense purpose does blend with your passions and the things that give you enjoy.
Although many movies portray your purpose as one big, over the top scheme that ties your entire life together, that just IS NOT the case.
In reality, I believe that you have a bunch of different purposes throughout your life. There may be one over-arching purpose, however, there is going to be different purposes depending on what season of life you are in.
Therefore, when you enter into a new time in your life, you may feel stuck. You may feel like there is something out there that is better for you. However, in those moments of uncertainty, I want to remind you:
There is more than one way to find your purpose, there even may be more than one purpose, however, no single way is better than the rest for finding your path. You are on your own journey and own plan. Do what you feel is leading you in the right direction and life will fall into place.

How to Find Your Purpose In Life: 5 Effective Tips
1. Do some reflecting
In order to find your purpose, you have to be very aware of yourself and what your values, interests, and prioritizes are.
This comes with time and going through more life experiences. But it can also be as simple as asking your some questions to dig deeper into your mind and heart.
Some really good self-discovery questions include:
- What are my three most important personal values?
- What scares me the most right now?
- When was the last time you truly felt happy and alive?
- What are your short term and long term goals?
- What dreams from your childhood do you still have hope to do?
These types of question are all really great at digging deeps and reflecting. Some sort of journal, notebook or diary is where I like to answer these question. It is personal to you and holds a lot of meaning.

2. Explore your passions
I will let you in on a little secret. And that is… you never know until you try.
We create our best work through trial and error. So if something interests you even a little bit, try it out! Explore a potential passion. You never know what could happen.
Interested in painting? Take an art class.
Interested in exercise? Get involved in your local gym or fitness studio.
Taking a leap of faith and putting your best foot forward may lead you to something amazing.
When I first started this blog, I didn’t know if I would enjoy it or stick with it more than a few months. And here I am 2 years later, still following my passion for helping others grow through health and wellness.
You may want to keep your passions as a hobby or you may want to turn it into a full blown side hustle and source of income.
So start exploring your passions. These interests may indicate what area of your life your purpose might be found in.
3. Find out what excites you
After reflecting on your life and exploring your passions, figure out what things in life excite you. What makes you walk a little faster or smile a little bigger? What are you constantly wishing would come faster?
If you truly want to find our passion in life, you need to figure out the things you would still do even you weren’t making money from them or had limited time.
Your life’s purpose is going to bring you a lot of joy and happiness. It should be enjoyable and touch your heart.
If getting growing your own garden and vegetables really excites you, maybe your life’s purpose is to start a community garden with a bunch of different foods for people to buy or eat. Maybe you could join a club related to planting or take a class about the benefits of fresh produce.
Find out what excites you and doing more of that, is important in potentially finding your purpose and creating more happiness within your life.
4. Live your own personal dreams
Sometimes, they process of discovering your purpose is squashed by other people’s expectation of you and your life. Whether that is societal expects, your parents plan, or even your own desire to fit in with the rest of the crowd.
Don’t let their plans keep your from chasing your own dreams.
You should be living life for yourself. Only consider your own voice and the voice of others close to you that also align with your goals and visions for yourself.
5. Let life guide you
Ultimately at the end of the day, we are all here for the ride.
Life is crazy and constantly changing. Things happen that move you into a certain direction. Our actions decide how are life goes and those decisions guide to along.
Take life step by step and life will guide you in the right direction. Remember that your purpose in life may change throughout your life. Let it guide you.
