Spring and self-care are two of my favorite things.
Now, do them both at the same time and I’m in heaven. Something about taking time to fulfill your needs and happiness while the sun is sunshine and flowers are bloom just fills my heart.
So here is 14 self-care ideas for spring to freshen up your life.
14 Cute Self-care Ideas for Spring
1. Get Outside
After the long winter, you are surely missing some good quality vitamin D. And the best source of vitamin D is in fact sunlight!
When your skin is exposed to sunlight, vitamin D is made from cholesterol. The sun’s ultraviolet B (UVB) rays hit cholesterol in the skin cells, providing the energy for vitamin D synthesis to occur.
Vitamin D helps keep your bones strong by regulating calcium and phosphate in the body.
Not to mention that actually increases the brain’s release of serotonin, also known as the happiness hormone 😉
So with that being said, get outside and enjoy the spring-time sun!
2. Pick flowers
Flowers are a classic spring-time staple. They are in full bloom and are the perfect pop of color to the landscape.
Take advantage of these beautiful flowers and go flower picking!
Bring some home and display they in your house and take some beautiful pictures with them. Check out how to pose with flowers for some inspo.
*Note: Make sure the location you go permits the picking of flowers.
3. Paint your nails spring-time colors
It is officially time to ditch the dark, cool-toned colors and switch over to light, warm-toned spring colors!
And that includes the color on your nails.
Some of favorite spring time colors include:

4. Spring Cleaning
Although spring cleaning sounds like a chore, it can be very satisfying. I actually find it very enjoyable and put it on my spring selfcare list each year.
Spring cleaning was started in the Persian culture and called khaneh tekani, which translates to “shaking the house”. This was started as a way to declutter and remove dust to prevent any future illnesses.
Typically spring cleaning activities include:
- Washing baseboards, ceiling fans, doors, window ceils, etc.
- Dusting blind and shelves
- Vacuuming
- Washing windowing
- Dushing overhead lights or lamps
- Getting rid of old clothes
- Decluttering any junk
Based on findings from the American Cleaning Institute (ACI), nearly three quarters of American’s plan on participating in spring clean at least once a year.
So why join them and schedule some time for spring cleaning this fall? Put on a good playlist and get cleaning!

5. Self-tan
Who does love being tan? Being tan is great, but after those long winter months, keeping a tan might be a little difficult.
To get in the spring and summertime mood applying some self-tan might be just what you need to elevate your confidence and give off those sun-kissed vibes.
My all-time favorite self tanner is the Bondi Sans 1 Hour Express Tanning Foam. It looks so good while still looking natural. It has blue undertones so it doesn’t create that overly orange look.
Make sure to use a tanning glove with any self tanner to ensure your hands don’t turn out over developed.
6. Wax or shave your legs
Spring-time means switching out your pants for shorts and coats for swimsuits. No more hiding those unshaved legs under your clothes.
Have a nice selfcare moment and find your perfect routine for removing any unwanted hair. Whether that is waxing, shaving, epilating, laser hair removal, or electrolysis, we are having smooth legs this spring!
Because I am not a good candidate for laser hair removal and waxing has proven to be too painful for my liking, my chosen hair removal method for my legs is shaving.
To get the perfect shave, here are the steps I take:
- Exfoliate
- Apply shaving cream or conditioner
- If you use a new razor, apply light pressure to avoid cuts.
- Shave using long strokes.
- Rinse and apply lotion.
7. Go on a picnic

There is nothing better than home grown fruits and veggies. It is the perfect self-care activity for spring. And luckily, spring is the best time to start a garden because the soil is dry and temperature is beginning to warm up.
Yep! The. Best. Time.
For some, this may mean March or April and other mays have to wait until May or June depending on the region and climate.
Nonetheless, before plants anything you can get your hands on, you should do some research as to what seeds will survive and thrive in your environment.
Some typical spring-time seeds include:

12. Get into a workout routine
It has likely been over 6 months sense anyone has seen you without a shirt – in public at least – and with the holidays and cold weather, there hasn’t been much motivation to work on your figure. Until now!
Summer is right around the corner with lots of lounging by the pool and maybe some tropical vacations planned. Which means, you might be ready to get a good workout routine in place.
Whatever you choose as your workout routine, there are few key tips to follow if you want to see results:
- Don’t go more than 3 days without working out. Your muscles need to under-going consistent stress.
- Rest is just as important as the workout itself. Give your muscles 24-48 hours to recover. (For example, if you worked your leg muscles on Monday, don’t do that exact workout on Tuesday. Instead, work your arm muscles)
- Protein will be your best friend. Try to eat protein with every meal as it is an important nutrient for building and repairing muscles. Click here for tips on how to add more protein to your diet.
Invest in yourself and start some self-care for spring now.
Note: Remember that no one workout plan is perfect for everybody. Everyone has their own goals, body, and preferences. For best results, you should speak with a professional or learn how to structure your own weekly workouts.
