The Best Summer Mindfulness Tips
1. Get Outside
As someone know works in an office everyday, getting outside to actually enjoy the summer sun may seem difficult.
But actually making the time to spend at least 15 minutes outdoors each door is important.
The sun and warmth can bring so much mindfulness, happiness and freshness to your day.
It can be as simple as going for a quick 15 walk or enjoying your morning cup of coffee outside.
2. Stop and smell the roses
The art of mindfulness is all about stopping and smelling the roses.
It is your awareness to the present moment and focusing it on it.
When you slow down enough enjoy the beauty of the world and smell some roses, you stop worrying about what’s next and start enjoying what actually is.
This is often times easier said then done but if you take just a few minutes each day so ground yourself and acknowledge the present, you will be on a good path to inner peace and having a mindful summer.
Because after all, spring and summer is the season of life and blooming flowers. You don’t want to miss it!
3. Go for a hike or nature walk
Hiking is one of my favorite ways to connect with nature and fully embracing the summer mindfulness.
Be in tuned with nature. Listen for the sounds around you. How does it the air feel?
If you are a Colorado local or live in high altitude like me, the air may feel non existent on harder hikes.
Nevertheless, dig into your senses and how you feel in the moment. Nature can give you appreciation for the simple, natural world and help clear your mind.
Take advantage of the sun and warm weather to start fostering summer mindfulness.
4. Mindful coloring
Embrace your inner child and get a coloring book! It’s not only a means of fun entertainment, but it’s actually proven to aid mindfulness and relaxation.
As someone who isn’t a super big reader, I am consistently looking for things to do while I’m sitting outside by the pool or on the beach besides scroll on my phone.
Coloring is so much more than simple children’s entertainment.
Mindfulness is the ability the stay focused and present in the moment. When you are coloring, you are focused on color choice and staying the in lines.
According to clinical psychologist Scott M. Bea, PsyD, “Adult coloring requires modest attention focused outside of self-awareness. It’s a simple activity that takes us outside ourselves in the same way, cutting the lawn, knitting or taking a Sunday drive can all be relaxing.”
So get yourself a fun coloring booking and enjoy!
