This delicious Greek yogurt everything bagel recipe adds a fun and healthier twist to traditional bagels. Eat them with cream cheese, as a breakfast sandwich or whatever you choose. These bagels aren’t going to disappoint!
5 Ingredient Greek Yogurt Everything Bagels
These Greek yogurt bagels are so good you will never want to buy pre-made bagels again! Coming in with 135 calories and 6g of protein, these bagels are also much healthier than traditional bagels and just as good, if not better!
I came across this recipe about a year ago and loved it! I’m all about saving calories yet still satisfying the taste buds. This recipe does just that as one of the main ingredients used is Greek yogurt which contains more protein and less calories. Although I’m not a super big fan of Greek yogurt, when it’s turned into bagels I can’t say no. Not only that but it only contains 5 total ingredients and requires little tools and effort.
These bagels do taste different than traditional bagel, but to my surprise, I actually prefer them. These bagels are a little more dense than traditional ones. The Greek yogurt also gives them a little sour taste almost like sourdough. Additionally, they are a bit chewier as well.
Because there is no yeast in the dough, they will not expand as much as other typical breads or bagels so they perfect for personal sizes and portion control. In this recipe I decided to top these bagels with everything bagel seasoning I got at my local grocery store. You can also get everything bagel seasoning at Trader Joe’s. Other options would be poppy seeds, sesame seeds, salt, plain or whatever else you want.

How to Make it
*See recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions.
Combine flour and baking powder into a bowl. Then, add Greek yogurt and slowly start kneading it together. You can also use an electric mixer with a dough hook. Keep mixing until the dough is in one big ball. The consistency is going to be slightly sticky.
Clear a space to roll the dough. You can lay down parchment paper or any type of mat to make cleanup easier. Sprinkle flour on the surface and divide the dough ball into 8 equal sections about the size of your palm.
Roll each dough ball out to make a tube-like log. Each log should be around 7-8 inches long. After, attach the 2 ends together and place on baking sheet. Mix an egg in a small bowl. Apply the egg wash to each bagel and then sprinkle on the everything bagel seasoning.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-22 minutes. Then set oven to 425 degrees and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until golden brown.
Pro Tips
- Rolling out the dough and forming a bagel shape is not as hard as it seems. Some things I found that makes it easier is putting a little bit of flour directly onto your hand so the dough doesn’t stick and using a light hand. When you press too hard on the dough, you aren’t going to get a nice a smooth, round shape. It will come out much flatter
- Make sure you buy plain Greek yogurt and not vanilla. Using vanilla will result in a sweet flavor in your bagels. Additionally, make sure the yogurt is thick and strained. Some Greek yogurt has a lot of water in it and might make the bagels watery and wet.
- Using an electric mixer with a dough hook makes this recipe a lot easier and forms a smoother and even ball of dough. I have a KitchenAid and although mixing by hand is effective, the electric mixer is a great option if it is available to you.
- You can use an air fryer to cook the bagels as well. The air fryer takes a substantially less time to cook however, I found the oven is an easier option because you can’t fit as many bagels in the air fryer at one time. Thus, you don’t really save that much time.
Tools For This Recipe
- Electric mixer with dough hook – This is a great tool to use when making the dough. I have made these bagels by hand and with a mixer and using a mixer is much easier, cleaner and faster. It makes this step so much smoother. If you have a kitchen aid available, go ahead and use that.
- Silicone basting brush – I used this to apply the egg wash and it gets the perfect amount of egg yolk and distributes it nice and evenly to the bagel.
- Large mixing spoon – This just helps to mix the dry ingredients.
- Large baking sheet – Lined with parchment paper or greased.
Storage
Store in an airtight container or bag. Storing them in the fridge may keep them fresh longer. I just leave them on the counter because they usually are gone pretty fast after they are made.

kcalThese delicious homemade Greek yogurt bagels have a fun and healthier twist on traditional bagels and are sure to leave you craving more!
Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 cups plain Greek yogurt
2 teaspoon baking powder
Everything bagel seasoning (You can get it from a local grocery store or Trader Joe’s)
1 egg whisked (for egg wash finish)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or grease the bottom of the pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and baking powder in a bowl. Mix the dry ingredients together.
- Measure out the plain Greek yogurt and combine with the flour and baking powder. Use a large mixing spoon to stir the ingredients together until you get a crumbly dough and then use your hands to knead the dough and ingredients together. The dough will be sticky. You may have to add an additional 1/4 cup of flour. (You may also use a electric mixer with a dough hook if available.)
- Divide the dough into eight equal balls. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface. The dough should form a rope-like shape and be about 7-8 inches long.
- Score each end of the rope and connect the ends together. Score the ends by creating an uneven surface so the dough has something to grip onto when you attach the ends together. Pinch the dough to help the attach the ends together. Repeat with the remaining dough. (You can view the video for reference)
- Crack the egg into a small bowl and whisk together.
- Apply the egg wash onto the bagels and then immediately add the everything bagel seasoning (or whatever seasoning you wish to use).
- Put the bagels in the oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes and then increase the temperature to 425 degrees for 5 more minutes or until golden brown.
